Men’s basketball wins season opener against Concordia-St. Paul
The St. Thomas men’s basketball team started the season with a 76-72 win over Concordia – St. Paul at the Gangelhoff Center. It was coach Steve Fritz’s 800th career win as a player, assistant coach and head coach.

Women’s basketball falls in home opener to UW-Stevens Point
The St. Thomas women’s basketball team lost 72-67 to the No. 6 UW-Stevens Point Pointers Monday night. Both teams were in the NCAA playoffs last season.
Blue Ox Rugby barred from national championship due to university standing
The Blue Ox Rugby Football Club has won the past two regional competitions and has qualified to play in this year’s national championship, but the team is unable to compete because it is not affiliated with St. Thomas.

The volleyball team won the NCAA regional tournament for the first time in school history Sunday, defeating top-seeded St. Olaf in straight sets.

It’s official: The Tommies are the top seed in their region for the NCAA Division III tournament.
ESPN announced Sunday afternoon that No. 1 St. Thomas will host No. 8 Benedictine University (8-2) from Lisle, Ill., part of the Chicago metropolitan area.
Volleyball beats UW-Eau Claire, advances to regional finals
The St. Thomas volleyball team beat UW-Eau Claire 3-0 in the regional semifinals Saturday. The Tommies will move on to play for the NCAA Regional Championship Sunday.
Men’s hockey beats Augsburg 2-1
Junior forward Tommy O’Donnell’s first-period goal sparked life into the St. Thomas men’s hockey team (3-2) Friday night and helped lead the team past Augsburg (2-1-2) 2-0.
After an earlier goal was disallowed due to a penalty, O’Donnell put back a rebound for his first goal this season.
Volleyball defeats Puget Sound 3-0 to advance to regional semifinals
The second-seed St. Thomas volleyball team beat Puget Sound 3-0 Friday to advance to Saturday’s semifinal round. The Tommies’ victory brings their record to 29-6 for the season.
