The St. Thomas woman’s cross country team finished third in its regional race in Northfield Saturday, missing out on the top-two automatic bid to the NCAA finals. But the selection committee picked the Tommies for an at-large berth for Saturday’s race in Louisville, Ky. The race begins at 10 a.m. CST.

St. Olaf (91), Nebraska Wesleyan (110), St. Thomas (112), Carleton (162) and Wartburg (178) place as the first five teams in the 30-team field. Carleton also took an at-large berth.
Three Tommie seniors finished in the top 14 runners. Alex Fossum took eighth place, Bridget McGivern was 12th and Kayla Janto finished 14th.
It is the third-straight trip to the NCAA finals for coach Joe Sweeney’s team.
