ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The St. Paul Saints will share a new regional ballpark with the Hamline University baseball team.
St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman and Hamline President Linda Hanson on Wednesday announced a 25-year partnership agreement between the city of St. Paul and the university.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the deal gives the Pipers their own team clubhouse at the new Lowertown Ballpark.
The “preferred partnership” arrangement makes Hamline the second-most visible tenant at the $63 million, city-owned ballpark after the independent league Saints. The Pipers clubhouse will be the third on site, neighboring the Saints clubhouse and a second clubhouse for visiting teams.
The 7,000-seat ballpark is scheduled to open next year. Hamline is expected to play more than a dozen games each year at the ballpark.
