The Tommies men’s basketball team will travel to Oshkosh Wisconsin to take on Guilford this Friday, March 8th in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.

The team defeated defending national champions and top-ranked Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday 70-58.

Sophomore guard Ryan Lindberg put up 15 points, three rebounds, and four assists to lead the Tommies. Guilford is unranked, while the Tommies are thirteenth.

The St. Thomas women’s basketball team are also in the Sweet Sixteen for the fifth straight year. The Tommie women’s basketball team will take on Amherst this Friday at St. Thomas’s Schoenecker Arena.

The number 3 ranked Tommies defeated Wisconsin-Lutheran at Schoenecker Arena to advance in this year’s NCAA tournament. Tommie senior center Hannah Spaulding finished the game with 21 points and 13 rebounds in the 67-51 victory.

We won’t know the next game for St. Thomas women’s hockey until Monday afternoon. The Tommies are headed to the 2019 NCAA tournament after beating the visiting Hamline Pipers in the MIAC title game Saturday.

This win gives the Tommies the MIAC championship for the fifth time in six years and secured their spot in this year’s NCAA tournament. Senior goalie Kenzie Torpy shut out the potent Pipers offense with 30 saves on the night.
