PHOTO SLIDESHOW: St. Thomas ROTC remember fallen soldiers on Veterans Day

The St. Thomas Air Force ROTC students braved the frigid, 13-degree weather to march under the American flag on the lower quad Monday in honor of Veterans Day.

Veterans Day is celebrated annually on Nov. 11. It started out as Armistice Day on Nov. 11, 1919, marking the end of World War I. In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially changed the name from Armistice Day to Veterans Day. Veterans Day commemorates all veterans who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

Unlike Memorial Day, Veterans Day pays tribute to all veterans, living and dead. It especially pays tribute to living veterans who have served their country.
