Following record-breaking snowfall, the city of St. Paul declared a one-side residential street parking ban that began Monday at noon. Parking is banned on the even-numbered side of all residential streets.

Residential streets around the St. Thomas campus include Selby and Goodrich avenues. Main streets include Cleveland, Summit and Cretin avenues. These streets are not included in the ban and regular parking rules still apply.

With the snow accumulation the city has received this winter, many residential streets are extremely narrow. The city cites safety reasons for the ban, along with ensuring streets are passable for emergency vehicles.

According to the National Weather Service, 39 inches of snow fell in the Twin Cities in February, breaking the previous record of 26.5 inches in 1962. The ban is in effect until April 1, unless the city decides to end it earlier.

The ban will be temporarily lifted during a snow emergency, and regular snow emergency parking rules will apply. Click here to read the full story.

President Donald Trump’s 2020 budget proposal will include $100 million for a global women’s fund spearheaded by his daughter Ivanka Trump. The White House said the budget, expected to be released Monday, will include the funding for the women’s global development and prosperity initiative.

In a statement to the associated press, Ivanka Trump said the initiative will help to economically empower 50 million women in developing countries by 2025. She says the budget includes a $100 million commitment for the fund.

The new initiative involves the state department, the national security council and other agencies, and aims to coordinate current programs and develop new ones to help women in areas such as job training, financial support and legal or regulatory reforms.
