The University of St. Thomas Undergraduate Student Government held a general council meeting on Feb. 7 where it was decided to allocate funds to the Business Professionals of America club and the Hispanic Organization for Leadership and Achievement. Guest Amy McDonough also spoke about the upcoming day at the Capitol event on March 12.

A fire damaged the popular Cleveland Wok restaurant in St. Paul’s Highland Park neighborhood this weekend. Police were contacted Saturday about fire coming from the roof of the restaurant. St. Paul Fire and Arson Investigator Joseph Blank reported the fire appeared to be accidental and the structure of the building remained sound despite significant internal damage.

The F.B.I. received a tip about Florida gunman Scott P. Beierle three months before he shot two women to death and injured another five at hot yoga in Tallahassee. The tip came from Beierle’s childhood friend and his wife, who were concerned after viewing content on Beierle’s personal website about the rape and torture of women. The F.B.I. reportedly did not have enough information to follow this lead.

A painting looted by Nazis during World War II is to be returned to Jewish heirs in Germany. Many paintings in Germany are thought to have been looted from their rightful Jewish owners, but provenance research has been slow.
