Wikileaks founder Julian Assange was arrested Wednesday in London after Ecuador revoked political asylum. He had not left the Ecuador embassy in seven years due to asylum.

Assange faces charges both in the U.S. and England. The U.S. justice department has accused him of conspiring with Chelsea Manning to break into a classified government computer at the Pentagon.

Assange was found guilty Thursday in London of breaching his bail, and faces up to a 12 year sentence in the U.K.

In national news, a storm known as a “bomb cyclone” has created blizzard conditions in the Midwest and hazardous fire conditions in the South.

Minneapolis and St. Paul school districts were among hundreds in Minnesota that closed today. Over two feet of snow is expected by Friday.

On campus, concern over whether St. Thomas athletic teams will continue to compete in the MIAC athletic conference is mounting as the presidents of the teams will meet on April 18th to discuss changes.

More than likely, the discussion will include changing the bylaws to cap undergraduate enrollment for schools in the conference at 4,000. This would disqualify St. Thomas, as it is the only school with over 4,000 undergraduates.
