The St. Thomas Undergraduate Student Government approved funding for 10 student clubs and started a new committee at its March 22 general council meeting.

A new committee was formed to provide support for transfer students. Transfer senator Anna Rauzi said the committee will hold events for transfer students and function similarly to the class councils.

USG approved a request for $1,000 from the Tommies Together Volunteer Center for their Spring Day of Service. The money will pay for five busses to transport students to and from volunteering sites.

In internal club funding requests, USG approved $945 for Photography Club, $1,590.75 for the Students for Human Life, $3,130 for Table Top Gaming Club, $3,240 for Campus Outreach Weekly, and $2,430 for TriBeta biology club.

In campus-wide funding requests, USG approved $1,300 for Cadenza’s spring concert, $965 for Students for Human Life’s “Save the Humans Week” and $950 for Health and Human Performance’s Special Olympics kickball event.

In conference and competition funding requests, USG approved $600 for Hmong Studies’ Hmong United Student Association International conference and $1,250 for Gamma Iota Sigma’s Drake Symposium.

USG allocated $50,000 for a diversity mural, $20,000 for commissioning and consulting a memorial for St. Thomas students who have passed away, and $20,000 towards revitalizing the Club Hub in ASC out of their $350,000 budget surplus.
