Concordia 19, St. John’s 18 (OT)
Concordia pulled off the upset of the MIAC season so far with a 19-18 overtime win over No. 4 St. John’s at Clemens Stadium in Collegeville when Alexander Diaz made a point-after kick to break a tie.
The Johnnies scored first in overtime on Henry Trost’s one-yard-run, but Jack McKenzie’s PAT was blocked. On fourth down and 9, Matt Bye caught a 24 -yard TD pass from Blake Kragnes to tie it.
St. John’s quarterback Jackson Erdmann threw for 356 yards but had four interceptions.
This is the Johnnies’ first loss of the season and their first MIAC loss since the 2017 Tommie-Johnnie game at Target Field.
Bethel 62, Hamline 7
Bethel had 422 rushing yards against Hamline, leading the Royals to their third straight win, 62-7, at Royal Stadium in Arden Hills.
Bethel and St. Thomas are tied for second in the MIAC, one-half game behind St. John’s.
Bethel led, 48-0, at halftime behind two touchdowns each from Jaran Roste and Max Janes.
Gustavus 55, Carleton 28
Gustavus quarterback Michael Veldman passed for 281 yards, leading the Gusties to a fourth straight win, 55-28, against Carleton at Hollingsworth Field in St. Peter.
The Gusties travel to St. Thomas to meet the Tommies next week.
Carleton quarterback Jonathan Singleton threw for all four of Carleton’s touchdowns.
