ROTHSCHILD, Wis. (AP) — Now that Kira Steger’s husband has been convicted of murder in Minnesota, a Wisconsin family plans to lay her to rest.
WAOW-TV reports Steger’s funeral is next Saturday at St. Mark’s Parish in Rothschild. Her mother, Marcie Steger, says visitation will run from 11:30 until 12:30. The service will follow. She’ll be buried at St. Michael’s cemetery.
Steger’s body was recovered from the Mississippi River in May. She was last seen alive in February having dinner at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn., with the husband she planned to divorce, Jeffrey Trevino. Prosecutors told jurors that Trevino killed Steger because she was having an affair and wanted to leave him.
Trevino was convicted of second-degree murder Oct. 2. His attorney has asked a judge to dismiss his conviction.
