ST. PAUL— State health officials say the number of flu-related deaths in Minnesota has risen to four.
A weekly influenza report from the Minnesota Department of Health says 578 people have been hospitalized since the flu season began in October. About 226 people were hospitalized with confirmed flu cases the last week of December.
Health officials say a teenager from Texas died Saturday at a St. Paul hospital due to flu complications. Max Schwolert and his family were spending the holidays with his grandparents in Amery, Wis., when he got sick on Christmas Eve. Relatives say the 17-year-old developed a staph infection along with the flu.
