MINNEAPOLIS— A 9-month-old girl remains in critical condition after her family’s sport utility vehicle went through the ice on Lake Minnetonka.
The Star Tribune reports the girl was transferred Saturday from a Waconia hospital to Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis.
Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek says the 41-year-old father was driving his 31-year-old wife, 2-year-old daughter and baby girl home from a restaurant at about 5 p.m. Friday when he decided to take a shortcut across the ice on the way home to Minnetrista.
The sheriff says there are indications the driver was drinking, although definitive blood test results are not yet available.
The other family members were also treated and are expected to survive.
