After receiving approval from Ramsey County Court, the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis plans to release information Thursday relating to priests who have been credibly accused of sexually abusing minors.
The archdiocese announced its plan on its website Monday and stated its goal in releasing the information is to protect youth, to care for abuse victims and to restore trust among the laity and clergy.
“Those who have been victimized by these horrible crimes have been deeply hurt. It is our hope that disclosure of these names can assist victims in their healing process,” the announcement said.
The archdiocese said the disclosure will include the accused cleric’s name, church assignments, current status and city and state where they currently reside or year of death, among other information.
The disclosure released Thursday will not be a finalized document but instead an ongoing, regularly updated list of names and additional information, the statement said.
