Andy Grammer to perform at STAR’s spring concert

St. Thomas students can “keep their heads up” and “let their hair down” at this spring’s St. Thomas Activities and Recreation concert, which will feature singer-songwriter Andy Grammer.

STAR announced Thursday that Grammer, known for his hits “Keep Your Head Up” and “Fine By Me,” will be performing at the annual concert, scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 10.

The concert, which has previously been held indoors, will take place on the John P. Monahan Plaza. Assistant Director of Campus Life Krysten Edwards said STAR will host pre-concert activities for the first time.

“We plan on having some kind of fun activities before and also a meal,” Edwards said. “It’ll be like a whole kind of chill day.”

Finance and Large Events Intern Chad Berg said he thinks the concert will appeal to students.

“Andy Grammer is a really popular guy,” Berg said. “He used to come to St. Thomas before he got big to do performances. He’s got a lot of really catchy songs—summer songs—and I think it’ll just be a really great way to kind of welcome the summer.”

According to his website, Grammer gained popularity in 2012 after reaching the Top 10 on Adult Pop Radio for two of his singles from his self-titled album. Since then, he has released an EP and the single “Miss Me.”

Grammer will be playing an acoustic concert.

Because the concert will be held outside, there will be no tickets. In case of rain, Grammer will perform at Woulfe Alumni Hall in the Anderson Student Center.

“There’s obviously a very large capacity,” Berg said. “If we have to move into the Woulfe, then we’ll have to take capacity into consideration.”

Grammer will be the only performer at this spring’s concert.

  1. I am looking forward to this. I have always thought Grammer was underrated. Really excited to come out a soak up some jams!

  2. Just for once I would love it if we could have an event that wasn’t so childish. How about instead of a concert UST has a seminar with a talk from some of the leading economists out there. Something productive would be a really refreshing switch up.

    Food for thought,
