
Running back Tucker Trettel broke a scoreless tie nine minutes into the first quarter, as fourth-ranked St. Thomas led Augsburg 27-7 at halftime in the Tommies’ homecoming game Saturday at Palmer Field.
Trestle’s run brought the score to 6-0 with 6:24 left in the first quarter after the Tommies missed the extra point.
With 1:45 left in that quarter, Dylan Andrew threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jackson Finn. Kicker Bryan Stensapir made the extra point, increasing St. Thomas’ lead to 13-0.
In the second quarter, running back Josh Parks’ 4-yard touchdown and Stensapir’s extra point pushed the score to 20-0 with 6:58 left on the clock.
A 30-yard touchdown pass from Alex Fenske to wide receiver Nick Waldvogel and an extra point increased the score to 27-0.
Augsburg managed to score with 38 seconds left in the second quarter when Raymond Guyton, Jr. caught a 33-yard pass from quarterback Sam Keis. An extra point from Auggie kicker Tyler Hanson bumped the score to 27-7.
The Tommies entered the game with a 4-0 record. Augsburg is 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the MIAC.
