Football stagnates, trails Gustavus 13-0 at half

ST. PETER, Minn. — Gustavus quarterback Michael Veldman threw for 265 yards and two touchdowns in the first half Saturday at Hollingsworth Field, putting the St. Thomas football team into a 13-0 hole going into the break.

Halfback Josh Parks was shut down through the first two quarters, gaining only 16 yards on nine attempts.

Quarterback Jacques Perra completed 10 of 15 passing for a total of 54 yards and had one interception in the first quarter. His longest throw was an 8-yard pass.

Despite holding the Gusties to minus-26 rushing yards and forcing one interception, the Gusties gained 239 yards of total offense in the first half. Four wide receivers caught passes for the Gusties, the longest of which was a 58-yard connection pass to wide out Brice Panning in the second quarter.

This is the second time this season the Tommies have entered halftime trailing.
