The football field is almost always open Friday afternoons in preparation for Saturday’s home opener. St. Thomas’ rivalry with the St. John’s University has raged since 1901, and any sort of Tommie-Johnnie match-up is popular with students. The Tommies will take on the Johnnies in football Sept. 24 at St. John’s. (Meghan Vosbeek/TommieMedia)
Sophomore Mark Holiday chows down on a chicken caesar wrap at Scooters. As of last year, Scooters began a meal swipe exchange Monday through Thursday 7:30-8:30 p.m. Students on meal plans can exchange one meal swipe for an entree, side and drink. (Meghan Vosbeek/TommieMedia)
This “I’m in the family” card is about to be used at Coffee Bene on Cleveland Avenue. Included in the move-in week freebies for first-year students was a Coffee Bene discount card giving students 10 percent off their purchase. (Meghan Vosbeek/TommieMedia)
The St. Thomas shuttle waits to pick up students Thursday afternoon. The shuttle provides free transportation for students to the Minneapolis campus Monday through Saturday. The shuttle picks students up from Summit Avenue in front of the Anderson Student Center on the St. Paul campus and drops them off on Harmon Place outside of Terrence Murphy Hall in Minneapolis. This is an easy, fun way to get to Target or downtown. (Meghan Vosbeek/TommieMedia)
Students walk through the AARC to cut through campus. Students can utilize tunnels and walkways to avoid the worst of the Minnesota weather and get to every academic building on North Campus without stepping foot outside. (Meghan Vosbeek/TommieMedia)
Dowling basement laundry traffic is low on a Wednesday night but will be busy come Sunday. Seasoned Dowling residents learn to do laundry on weekday nights to avoid the weekend rush and having their wet laundry taken out and left in a pile atop the machines. (Meghan Vosbeek/TommieMedia)
A long line of people wait for their food at the Chipotle in the Highland Village just a few miles off campus. Chipotle is one of the many restaurants that accept Express dollars — a full list is outside the student card office in Murray Herrick Hall. (Meghan Vosbeek/TommieMedia)
A new sign sits atop the aisles of the Summit Marketplace reminding students Flex money can only be used on food items. Flex comes with meal plans, while Express money must be separately loaded into student accounts. (Meghan Vosbeek/TommieMedia)
Tuesdays at St. Thomas are known as Tommie Tuesdays. Students are encouraged to wear purple and sometimes are even given free St. Thomas gear for showing some school spirit. (Meghan Vosbeek/TommieMedia)
Students study around the Loft Friday afternoon. Most Mondays, the Loft gives away free mochas to its first batch of customers. Go to the third floor of the Anderson Student Center to take advantage of the deal. (Meghan Vosbeek/TommieMedia)
Not sure how Tommie Tuesdays or the football field being open (the game isn’t even here this year?) are related to college survival. Was hoping for some more practical tips about studying, sleep, etc.
