Majority of St. Thomas student’s parents paying for their spring break trips

With spring break just days away, St. Thomas students are packing their bags and getting ready to travel across the country and overseas. How they are planning to pay for their trips, however, is another issue all together.

After surveying 50 students, the answer to how the majority of students are paying for their vacations is clear: their parents.

During the survey, students were asked, “Where are you going for spring break, and who is paying for your trip?”  120314_IG_SPRING_BREAK

Senior Samantha Dooner said, “I am going to Scottsdale, Arizona, and I’m going with my family; so my family is paying for it.”

Freshman Scott Fasano said he is going to Lake Havasu, Ariz., and his parents are paying for it.

However, some students like junior Anthony Moser said, “I am going to Lake Havasu, Arizona, and I am paying for it myself.”

Twenty-two percent of students surveyed will be going home for break, 32 percent will be paying for their own spring break vacations, and 46 percent of students’ trips are paid for by their parents.
