Athletic department cleans house for extra cash

The St. Thomas athletic department is doing some fall cleaning Friday afternoon. Equipment manager Willy McCoy will be selling old Tommie gear in garage sale fashion from 4 to 8 p.m., Oct. 9, in the third-floor gym in O’Shaughnessy Hall.

Women’s CC finishes fifth in Oregon

Senior Kelly Russ led the women’s cross country team to a fifth place finish out of 19 teams Saturday at the Willamette Invite in Salem, Ore.

St. Thomas took second out of the Division III schools, finishing just behind Whitworth. Russ took 11th place out of a 203 runners. Sophomore Alyssa Rasett-Mehl came in 15th and Taylor Berg finished 38th.

Seven straight wins for women’s soccer

The women’s soccer team got the game’s only goal from sophomore Regina Horak and defeated Wisconsin-Steven’s Point 1-0 at home Saturday.

The win is St. Thomas’ seventh in a row and the Tommies have outscored opponents 17-2 over that stretch. Sophomore Allie Byron had four saves in net for the Tommies to pitch a shutout.

Men’s soccer beats St. Olaf at home

St. Thomas got goals from junior Reid Moser-Bleil and sophomore Angel Riera as the Tommies beat Hamline 2-0 at home Saturday.

The win moves the Tommies to 6-4-1 overall and 2-1 in MIAC play. Senior Carlos Castelan made three saves and recorded a shutout in net for St. Thomas.
