St. Thomas spring sport athletes competed across the nation over spring break and posted solid performances. The baseball team defeated the Minnesota Twins rookie team and the softball team won against previously undefeated Ramapo College.
MIAC sports roundup: Punkyo earns honorable mention All-America honors
Freshman Emily Punyko tied for 14th place in the 100 breaststroke Friday at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Indianapolis and earned honorable mention All-America honors.

Senior forward Ali Johnson’s game-high and career-best 24 points guided the St. Thomas women’s basketball team to an 87-60 victory over No. 1-ranked Amherst College in the NCAA tournament consolation game Saturday.

lllinois Wesleyan defeated the St. Thomas women’s basketball team 67-53 in the NCAA semifinal Friday, giving the team its second loss of the season.

Senior center Sarah Smith is the cornerstone for the women’s basketball team. Smith leads the team in rebounding with 7.5 boards per game, and she also excels in the classroom with a 3.84 GPA. Check out the video package on Smith here.
