Michelle Branch to perform Sept. 26
Michelle Branch will perform Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. for an outdoor concert, sponsored by STAR. The concert will be held on South Campus, similar to the Sara Bareilles concert last spring.
Coffee Bené to set up shop in OSF library
Starting in February, library-goers will be able to take a caffeine break with Coffee Bené. Dan Gjelten, director of libraries, has arranged with the local coffee vendor to add a shop on the first floor of O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library.
FAFSA filings rise, students scrape to pay tuition
Even during the best of economic times, it can be hard for students to scrape together enough money for St. Thomas’ private-school price tag. But as unemployment rates climb along with tuition costs, many students are frantically searching for ways to pay their tuition bills.
“Paying for this semester was really tough,” junior Jack Dowd said. “I’m taking out more loans, paying more out of the pocket, taking on two jobs and even taking from part of my little brother’s college fund. I’m planning on paying him back once I graduate and get a job.”
Two concerts will substitute for no homecoming dance
Because there is no convenient space, Campus Life has decided to not hold a homecoming dance this fall.

Three student groups converged Tuesday night to showcase a new documentary by Invisible Children at the 3M Auditorium in Owens Science Hall.
Box Office to sell Vikings tickets by lottery Thursday
If you plan to buy a Minnesota Vikings ticket from the St. Thomas Box Office, hope for a little luck. Due to high interest, tickets will be sold through a lottery system.
“The system is designed to eliminate students waiting in line, missing class, and allow every undergraduate student a fair opportunity to purchase tickets regardless of class schedule,” said Colleen Stephens, manager of Box Office and Expeditions.
