This year, for the first time ever, Murray Hall served as the living quarters for 109 male St. Thomas students. Despite pulling off the switch without many problems, Murray Hall will once again be for the ladies when students hit campus next fall.

Free bus and light-rail rides tonight offer St. Patrick’s Day celebrators a designated driver thanks to Metro Transit. Metro Transit will offer the free bus and light-rail rides Wednesday, March 17 after 6 p.m.

Geology students to trek 1,800 miles by canoe
Two students will hit the road, or the river, when summer arrives, to embark on a 1,800-mile canoe journey northward. In May, juniors Luke Olson and Lindsey Lee will leave from northern Minnesota and end in the Hudson Bay about two months later.
‘Lies My Teacher Told Me’ author begins challenge day
The unofficial slogan of Edina, Minn., used to be “Not one Negro and not one Jew,” according to James Loewen.
Loewen, a nationally esteemed author and sociologist, shared this story with about 200 people during his lecture Monday night in the O’Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium.

Christmas lights still burning bright, no end in sight
With warm weather, melting snow and longer days helping students think spring, there’s a still a hint of Christmas on campus.
USG approves $21,336 more for clubs
The Undergraduate Student Government approved an additional $21,336 in club budget requests at its meeting Sunday, March 14.
Few students using HOURCAR services
Only 10 students have used the HOURCAR service since it arrived on campus at the beginning of February after a few years of negotiation.
Group’s protests draw mixed reactions
St. Thomas’ Knights of Columbus have a tradition of praying in front of Planned Parenthood every Friday.
The group meets at 3:15 p.m. in the lobby of St. John Vianney Seminary and then car pools to the business on Ford Parkway in Highland Park.
Junior Sean Grismer said the group consists mostly of seminarians.

Former Tommie, police chief Harrington eyeing New Orleans job
St. Thomas alumnus and former St. Paul Police Chief John Harrington is considering coming out of retirement to become police chief of a New Orleans task force, the Star Tribune reports.
Tommies notice lack of tomatoes
Frigid temperatures in Florida have killed almost 70 percent of its tomato and other vegetable crop, making prices too high for St. Thomas’ food services to purchase.
