Coming into the season ranked nationally in three separate preseason polls, the following are seven reasons why St. Thomas football could go undefeated in 2009. The Tommies (1-0) started the season Sept. 4 by throttling the Scots 54-14 at Macalester.

The Tommie men’s soccer team has been working hard since Aug. 18 to shape together a team that can compete and continue the success it had last season.

St. Thomas icon missing
Priest, scholar and statesman, Archbishop John Ireland founded St. Thomas as a Catholic seminary in 1885.
Currently he is not a visible campus presence, due to construction of the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex.
Early this summer, the statue was taken down, disassembled, placed in a crate and secured in a storage unit near McNeely’s underground parking ramp.
