The University of St. Thomas introduced a new student-oriented lab Sept. 20 in the Facilities and Design Center on South Campus. The lab has three main rooms, a 3D printing center, a laser engraver and a small kitchenette with a fridge, sink and vending machines.
Dougherty Family College receives $6.5 million donation
St. Thomas’ Dougherty Family College received a $6.5 million donation in September from Richard Sterbens and Marty Ryan to help create an endowment to support graduates of the college. The donation will provide full-tuition scholarships to those who wish to complete their bachelor’s degree at St. Thomas.

Volleyball sweeps Augsburg, continues win streak
The St. Thomas volleyball team’s outside hitter Fran Egan tallied 13 kills against Augsburg Wednesday, leading the team to a 3-0 victory. The Tommies dominated the first two sets 25-13 and 25-14, and won the final set 25-20 against the Auggies for their fifth-consecutive win.
“Presidential Alert” emergency test reaches St. Thomas phones at different times
The Federal Emergency Management Agency scheduled its first national wireless test of the emergency alert system at 1:18 p.m. CDT Oct. 3. Some St. Thomas students received the alert sporadically, or not at all.
