More than 200 people filled the O’Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium Sunday night to hear best-selling author and columnist Mitch Albom talk about his latest book and how we are “all people of God.”
Albom’s “Tuesdays with Morrie” sold more than 14 million copies and attracted junior Monica Jarvis to the event.
Hundreds rally on South Campus to protest marriage forum
In protest of the Reclaiming the Culture of Marriage and Life Spring Forum, around 200 demonstrators gathered to rally for equal rights Saturday morning on South Campus.
As forum participants walked toward Brady Educational Center, where the forum was held, demonstrators held hoisted homemade signs and led chants supporting gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities.
Students plan protest of marriage forum
St. Thomas students are organizing a protest in response to the Reclaiming the Culture of Marriage and Life Spring Forum, to be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday in Brady Educational Center.
Wednesday, the students presented the dean of students office with a notice of intent to demonstrate including an outline their plans to rally peacefully outside the forum. Some of the rally organizers then met with the dean’s office to discuss the event.

Average time for graduation declining at St. Thomas
As the end of the year approaches, many seniors are busy preparing to graduate. Although most students graduate after four years, 20 percent return to St. Thomas for more classes after their senior year.
Still, the average time for a student to graduate at St. Thomas has been steadily decreasing.
Observatory to invite public, classes after summer upgrades
With the help of a few students, physics professor Gerry Ruch hopes to have St. Thomas’ observatory fully functional by the end of summer.
After spring semester, he will program the observatory’s computer system and integrate the observatory, which opened in September, into physics classes and other programs.
USG event aims to raise safety awareness on campus
To promote the usage of the emergency blue lights on campus, the Undergraduate Student Government will host an event during convocation hour Tuesday in the Upper Quad.
