Letter: Civil discourse event a step in the right direction
Pick your favorite: mine is “Tutugate.”
For at least five years, our university has been marred by frequent controversies pertaining to speakers sharing their views on campus. In such cases, the inability of opposing parties to effectively communicate and receive information with their intellectual opponents has brought the issue to a fever pitch.
The Breakdown: Best albums of 2009
2009 was a huge year for music, filled with more than plenty of ups and downs. Britney Spears pulled off an incomprehensible comeback. Kanye West made a fool of himself on national television, again. Lady Gaga stormed into the spotlight and left everyone far beyond bewildered.

Mullee, Ney crowned MIAC Athletes of the Week
Senior Peter Mullee and junior Becca Ney were named MIAC Athletes of the Week in men’s and women’s swimming.
Both swimmers were honored for their performances at Macalester’s Roger Ahlman Invitational, where each won three events.
Men’s bball crushes No. 9-ranked Wooster, starts 2-0
The men’s basketball team swept the Wooster, Ohio, tournament this weekend with wins over Heidelberg University and the College of Wooster.

Volleyball’s Foster an All-American again
Junior volleyball player Emily Foster was named an All-American for the second straight season.
Foster led the nation in assists this season and was recently named MIAC Player of the Year.
Women’s CC finishes fourth at regionals
The women’s cross country team tied for fourth Saturday at the NCAA regional tournament at Grinnell, Iowa.

The men’s cross country team qualified for the national tournament as it tied for first place in the NCAA regional Saturday at Grinnell, Iowa.

Men’s and women’s CC compete at NCAA regionals Saturday
Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete Saturday at the NCAA Central Regional Tournament at Grinnell College in Iowa. The men’s team enters the race ranked No. 22 in the country, while the women sit at No. 23.

Men’s hockey starts out 1-0-1
Junior Rob Johnson’s late game goal was enough for the men’s hockey team to force a 1-1 tie with St. John’s Sunday night at the MIAC Showcase held at the Bloomington Ice Garden.
