While living on campus the last three years, I’ve had my fair share of struggles. I’ve shared bathrooms, lost room keys, had my shoes stolen and been put through early morning fire alarms in the dead of winter. And that was just my sophomore year.
Indoor titles extend track teams’ tradition of domination
The men’s and women’s track and field teams continued their dominance at the MIAC Indoor Championships Saturday at Carleton College.
The men’s team won its 26th consecutive indoor title with a score of 163 points, while the women’s team won its 11th straight indoor championship by a margin of 28 points.

Nicolai named MIAC Player of the Year
St. Thomas junior guard Tyler Nicolai was named 2009-10 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year Thursday afternoon.
“It’s an honor to be named player of the year,” Nicolai said.
New laundry program to limit use but improve machines
Residence Life released the plan for a new laundry program Wednesday that will pull revenue from students’ room and board rates in 2010 to update laundry facilities and improve sustainability throughout campus.
Residence Life Director Aaron Macke said the new laundry program will allow machine repairs and improve sustainability.

Police close investigation of Zamlen death
The criminal investigation of the death of former St. Thomas student Dan Zamlen was formally closed last week, St. Paul Police Department spokesman Sgt. Paul Schnell said.
The case has officially been ruled an accidental death. Schnell said there was “never any foul play discovered relative to this case at all. The medical examiner did not find any indication that death was caused by foul play.”
Construction pushes students to off-campus gyms
With the relocation of the weight room to the concession area of O’Shaughnessy Stadium, some St. Thomas students are choosing alternative places to work out.
Strength coach Tyrone Stenzel said the new weight room is “really undersized.”
“It’s just that we have a space crunch, and there’s really no place we can go,” Stenzel said.
