Tommies find revenge against Linfield in double overtime
On a frigid Saturday afternoon at Palmer Field, St. Thomas avenged last year’s season-ending loss to Linfield College (Ore.), beating the team 24-17 in an overtime thriller and advancing to the third round of the NCAA playoffs.

ESPN announced Sunday afternoon that No. 1 St. Thomas will host No. 8 Benedictine University (8-2) from Lisle, Ill., part of the Chicago metropolitan area.
Volleyball falls in MIAC finals to St. Olaf
The No. 11 St. Thomas volleyball team was swept 3-0 Saturday by the No. 12 St. Olaf Oles in the MIAC championship match in Northfield.
St. Thomas never led at any point in the night. The top-seeded Oles defeated the Tommies 25-22, 25-18 and 25-22. The loss ends the Tommies’ MIAC win streak of 11 matches.

Coping with concussions at St. Thomas
In the wake of the NFL’s crackdown on helmet-to-helmet contact, a recent Mayo Clinic Summit on traumatic brain injuries in hockey, and a head injury that sidelined Minnesota Twins player Justin Morneau for more than half the season, concussions have become a prevalent issue at every level of modern-day sports.
Women’s soccer heads to postseason play, men’s season ends
Saturday marked the beginning of the postseason for the St. Thomas women’s soccer team, and the end of the season for the men’s team.
The Tommie women’s team beat St. Mary’s 4-0 at home Saturday and will advance to the MIAC championships as the No. 3 seed.
