Allies, Campus Ministry try to lessen GLBT intolerance
The suicides and bullying of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students in recent weeks have raised questions about campus tolerance.
St. Thomas conducted a climate study in 2007 to assess diversity and inclusion on campus. Results showed that GLBT students, faculty and staff were “the recipients of the most negative and disparate treatment,” according to the executive report.
Band Club, Bible study group receive USG funding
The Undergraduate Student Government approved club budget allocations and conference and competition requests at its meeting Sunday night.
The Band Club was allocated $1,400. Thirst, a Bible study group on campus, requested $762, but was allocated $362.
The Society of Human Resources requested $1130, but was allocated $430.
Choir, band prepare for upcoming concert
St. Thomas bands and choirs will hold their first performance at 2 p.m. this Sunday, Oct. 24, at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis.

USG approves $270,842 fall semester budget
The budget is broken down into $26,740 in internal expenses, $50,600 for external expenses, $21,500 for class councils, and $18,850 in contingency.

USG confirms no motorized floats for homecoming parade
At its Sept. 26 meeting, the Undergraduate Student Government confirmed that no motorized floats will be allowed in the homecoming parade this year.
There will not be any motorized vehicles allowed in the parade because Lot H is gone and there is no place to store floats.
Seven USG spots filled in fall elections
The Undergraduate Student Government fall election results are out. While the election turnout was lower than the spring elections, USG president Dwight Anderson said the number of voters was “pretty good” compared to past fall elections.
