USG initiatives update
With the end of fall semester approaching, USG members discuss the progress of its initiatives.
USG considers creating new position
USG is considering creating a Chief of Staff position for next semester that would be paid through the USG budget. USG also discussed the Leadership Dinner and approved the Sports Broadcasting club.
USG approves club, discusses initiatives
Undergraduate Student Government approved the Young Americans for Liberty club and discussed neighborhood relations and library textbook reserve initiatives.
16 seniors nominated for Tommie Award, profiles of the candidates
Sixteen St. Thomas seniors are nominated for the 2012 Tommie Award. Preliminary voting for the Tommie Award will be available online from Dec. 5 to Dec. 7.
2012 Tommie Award nominee: Erika Jarnes
Jarnes is the co-president of PULSE and an executive board member of Gospel Choir and Gymnastics Club. She is also a member of the Ski and Snowboard Club, Rock Climbing Club, THIRST and UST Allies.
2012 Tommie Award nominee: Logan Crotty
Crotty has been a leader for Catholic Discovery Bible Studies, a co-founder of Catholic Women’s Night, and a resident adviser for two years.
2012 Tommie Award nominee: Matthew Sullivan
Sullivan is a Tommie Ambassador, tour guide, Undergraduate Student Government Senior Class Senator, athletic chair on the Up ’til Dawn executive board, and a lector at Last Chance Mass in the St. John Vianney Seminary.
2012 Tommie Award nominee: David Hackworthy
Hackworthy’s activities at St. Thomas include the Sigma Chi Fraternity, Office of Admissions intern, Undergraduate Student Government neighborhood senator, Ireland Hall resident adviser and Foreign Affairs Club.
2012 Tommie Award nominee: Greg Scharine
Scharine’s activities at St. Thomas include USG, Student Alumni Council, Students Today Leaders Forever, Students in Free Enterprise, Board of Trustee student liaison, Catholic Men’s Leadership, Knights of Columbus, and track and field.
