St. Thomas’ Dougherty Family College received a $6.5 million donation in September from Richard Sterbens and Marty Ryan to help create an endowment to support graduates of the college. The donation will provide full-tuition scholarships to those who wish to complete their bachelor’s degree at St. Thomas.

Allianz Field, Minnesota United’s new stadium, enters the final quarter of its construction for 2019. Some Hamline-Midway residents are concerned that the multi-year development plan will economically restructure the neighborhood and potentially alter its demographic.

Former St. Thomas volleyball player Whitney Lloyd was one of 30 athletes nominated for the 2017-18 NCAA Woman of the Year award. The NCAA Women of the Year program honors athletics, academic achievements, community service and leadership of graduating college athletes.
Business students create apparel company; Mauer, Humphries endorse
Three business students started an athletic apparel brand, In Progress, for a Business 200 project. The group was able to get Twins’ first baseman Joe Mauer and free agent NBA forward Kris Humphries to endorse the line.
Dance team hires new coaching staff for next season

Alley pickup designed to eliminate recycling buildup
Some residents in St. Paul have not had their recycling picked up in over three weeks due to ice and snow preventing trucks from reaching pickup areas. Eureka Recycling has started alley pickup in an effort to reduce buildup.
