Local company Mashup Media creates new music experience

Mashup Media Inc. is a cloud service that will eventually offer its users unlimited storage for owned music, a profile to display taste preferences and an online store to purchase songs. The goal is to target people who are proud of the music they own and want to display it.

Students sacrifice their wardrobe to raise awareness about modern-day slavery

Extending Christ’s Hope to Others, or ECHO, is a campaign created to educate college students about a variety of causes. The St. Thomas group is encouraging students to purchase a T-shirt and wear it every day in April. They hope to raise funds and awareness about modern-day slavery.

Breakfast Club helps freshmen improve their health, provides resources

The three-week program featured St. Thomas experts and professors giving informal lectures on a variety of subjects, including nutrition, friendship, finances and alcohol. The group also focuses on providing information to first-year students about assistance the university offers.

Texting, the preferred method for liars

Research published by The Los Angeles Times suggests it’s easier to lie in a text message versus face-to-face conversation. Some St. Thomas students admitted to the ease of lying via text message and were not surprised by the research.

Study finds checking email on mobile phones preferred to Internet

A study published by The Huffington Post states that teenagers and young adults prefer checking email on mobile phones over checking it on the Internet, a trend that some St. Thomas students said they agreed with.

Men’s hockey defeats Augsburg 2-0

The St. Thomas men’s hockey team ended its regular season with a  2-0 win against Augsburg Saturday at home. The team holds the top seed in the playoffs and will play on Feb. 25.

Students voice their opinions on sharing passwords in relationships

A recent article from the New York Times suggests that young couples who exchange passwords is becoming  a new trend in relationships, and some St. Thomas students admit to taking part in this activity.

Students participate in local Soap Boxing Poetry Slams
