Junior Ryan Foster was elected president of the 2017-18 Undergraduate Student Government Friday.
Foster, a junior human resources management major, who beat out junior Bobby Martin for the position, looks forward to his presidency and maintaining an open connection between students and USG.
“Communication and unification are super important in my mind,” Foster said. “Under communication obviously falls transparency, making sure anything we take on, whether it’s positive or something negative that happened, making sure that we are open about it.”
Foster has been both his first-year and sophomore class president, as well as current vice president of administrative affairs. He has also been an RA in Cretin since his sophomore year and is currently an OM.
One of the most important things to Foster is being involved in student life and present in clubs on campus.
“The student center is where I live,” Foster joked. “I really want to be someone who can say they are well-versed in what’s going on around campus and I think that’s important for accomplishing anything the students want.”
Foster is excited to lead USG in the 2017-2018 school year and looks forward to working with his executive board to uphold the St. Thomas mission statement.
“I love how St. Thomas is so embedded in it’s mission and making a difference, and I love how everyone knows that we are for the common good.
