Ben Alvord hit Evan Clark on St. John’s first play from scrimmage, and Dusty Krueger scored first-quarter touchdowns on a blocked punt and a 3-yard run to make quick work of Augsburg in a 49-0 victory for the Johnnies at Minneapolis.

Alvord, a sophomore, played for a second week in place of quarterback Jackson Erdmann, who suffer a concussion Sept. 24 against St. Thomas. Alvord completed 12 of 15 passes for 190 yards. Clark caught three passes for 109 yards.

Nine running backs carried the ball 51 times for 246 yards for St. John’s (3-1 MIAC, 5-1 overall). The Johnnies outgained Augsburg (1-3, 1-5) 436-128 for the game.

Carter Hanson recorded 10 tackles for the Johnnies, who posted six quarterback sacks.

Hamline 34, St. Olaf 16

Justice Spriggs threw four touchdown passes, two of them to Josiah Harris, to lead Hamline (2-1, 4-1) to victory over St. Olaf (0-3, 1-4) in a night contest in St. Paul.

Spriggs completed 20 of 28 passes for 248 yards. He hit Harris from 11 yards out with 9:05 to play in the first quarter, then duplicated the play five seconds into the second quarter.

Spriggs added a 30-yard scoring strike to Nick Kampa 1:48 into the third quarter, then hit Harrison Jones with a 14-yard touchdown pass seconds into the fourth.

Harris, Kampa and Deon Bishop each caught five passes as the Pipers amassed 433 yards of offense.

Bethel 56, Carleton 8

Gunnar Bloom rushed for 110 yards and four touchdowns, averaging nearly seven yards a carry, to lead Bethel (2-2, 2-4) to the victory at Northfield. Quarterback Jake Marsh added 256 yards and two touchdowns, completing 16 of 23 passes as the Royals rolled up 533 yards of offense.

Ethan Trujillo completed 29 of 44 passes with a touchdown for Carleton (1-3, 1-5) but was intercepted three times.

Carleton returned to Laird Stadium after playing last week at Northfield High School because of flooding.
