Junior forward Rachel Booth was named to the Division III All-Region team Tuesday after leading St. Thomas to a 21-7 record and an NCAA playoff berth.

“It is really cool that I was selected to the All-Region team, but there’s no way I could have gotten the recognition without the help of the team,” Booth said.

In her first season with the Tommies, Booth averaged 17 points and just over nine rebounds in nearly 28 minutes of action a game. She also broke St. Thomas school records for blocked shots in a game and in a season.

Booth’s presence was felt throughout the league. She finished first in the MIAC in rebounding, second in scoring average and third in field goal percentage after transferring from St. Cloud State last season.

Sophomore forward Maggie Bryant said even with Booth’s impressive numbers, some things she did for the team didn’t go on the stat sheet.

“If someone had the hot hand, she would be the first to tell our team to get them the ball, and not always her,” Bryant said. “She is a player who makes others better around her. She is a very intense player and has a passion for the sport.”

There are 40 All-Region members covering eight different regions. Players were nominated by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and are now eligible for selection to the 10-member All-America Team.

Gustavus senior guard Brianna Radtke was the only other MIAC player to make the All-Region Team.
