The men’s basketball team swept the Wooster, Ohio, tournament this weekend with wins over Heidelberg University and the College of Wooster.
Junior Tyler Niccolai led the Tommies in scoring in both wins. St. Thomas beat Heidelberg 92-55 in both team’s season openers to move onto the championship game, where the Tommies soundly beat the tournament host Scots 84-53. Wooster came into the tournament ranked in the top 10 in Division III polls.
St. Thomas showed off its depth, outscoring its opponents 93-22 in bench points, including a 54-10 advantage over Heidelberg.
Freshmen Josh Pedretti and John Nance both had strong games in their St. Thomas debut, as both scored double-digit points in Friday’s win over Heidelberg.
The Tommies suit up Tuesday on the road at Wisconsin River Falls.
