St. John’s 19, Bethel 0
No. 4 St. John’s beat No. 6 Bethel 19-0 in Collegeville Saturday afternoon, giving Bethel (4-1) its first loss of the season. St. John’s QB Jackson Erdmann led the Johnnies to victory with 326 passing yards and a 9-yard touchdown run during the first quarter.
Running back Kai Barber finished out a 75-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
Wide receiver Ravi Nelson caught a 29-yard pass from Erdmann to round out the third quarter. Nelson caught the ball for a total of 188 receiving yards.
Bethel lagged behind with 93 passing yards and 98 rushing yards.
The Johnnies (5-0) take on the Tommies (3-0) Saturday, October 19 at 1:10 p.m. at Allianz Field for the Tommie-Johnnie matchup.
Carleton 14, Hamline 7
Carleton defeated Hamline 14-7 at Klas Field in Hamline’s homecoming game.
Hamline (1-5) rushed for a total of 231 yards, its highest in five years. The Pipers maintained possession for over 40 minutes, but still could not edge past Carleton.
Carleton defensive end Adam Binzak scored in the second quarter on a fumble recovery, pushing the score 7-0. Hamline halfback Terrel Jones ran in a 47-yard touchdown in the second quarter as well, ending the half tied.
Carleton running back Sean Goodman Jr. broke the tie in the fourth quarter with just 3:30 left, scoring a 30-yard touchdown.
Carleton (3-3) hosts Augsburg (0-4) next Saturday.
Gustavus Adolphus 35, Concordia-Moorhead 28
Gustavus Adolphus (3-2) scraped by Concordia-Moorhead (2-5) 35-28 at Jake Christiansen Stadium in Moorhead.
Quarterback Michael Veldman led with 395 passing yards, and threw three touchdown passes for the Gusties.
Quarterback Blake Kragnes scored all four touchdowns for the Cobbers, leading the team with 127 rushing yards.
Gustavus hosts Hamline next Saturday at 1:10 p.m.
