The top-ranked St. Thomas women’s hockey team placed fourth in the NCAA Frozen Four after losing two games over the weekend.

The Tommies played without senior All-American goalie Kenzie Torpy, who suffered a knee injury earlier in the week.

St. Thomas fell 3-0 to MIAC rival Hamline on Friday in the semifinals and 1-0 to Adrian College on Saturday in the third place game.

Freshman goalie Eryn Cooley stopped 29 of 32 shots against Hamline and 23 of 24 shots against Adrian.

Hamline lost 4-0 in the championship game to Plattsburgh State of New York.

Torpy and Demi Cooper received West All American Honors and coach Tom Palkowski was named National Coach of The Year on Friday at the Frozen Four players banquet.  

The St. Thomas women’s basketball team lost 71-60 on Friday to third-ranked ranked Bowdoin College in the NCAA Final Four in Salem, Virginia.

The Tommies held a five-point lead with about six minutes left in the game, but Bowdoin went on a 20-4 run to seal the victory.

Thomas More University topped Bowdoin 81-67 on Saturday for the national title.

The St. Thomas seniors completed their career with a 114-10 record over their four years, and sophomore Kaia Porter won the NCAA Elite 90 Award for having the best grade-point average among all players in the tournament.  
 
The St. Thomas men’s tennis team improved to 6-1 this season with a 9-0 victory over North Central College.

Eleven Tommies contributed to the victory, and four players including upperclassmen Eshan Varma and Zach Levene, won both of their sets without dropping a game. The team will have two matches and a doubles tournament over spring break in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
