Despite a slow start, the St. Thomas men’s basketball team hit its three-point stride late in the first half to take a 40-30 lead at the half Friday at US Bank Stadium.
Both teams struggled from the floor, but three-straight treys opened up a 10-point lead for St. Thomas (1-0 MIAC, 4-1 overall).
The Tommies were 2-for-8 from beyond the arc before Tommy Anderson hit the first trey for St. Thomas. First-year starter Anders Nelson followed that up with a steal before draining a three of his own.
Nelson and forward Connor Bair currently lead the Tommies in points with a combined total of 22.
Falcons guard Matt Keller currently leads the team with seven.
The Tommies lost 71-57 the last season when they played the Falcons.
